Siguiendo por la Ruta provincial Nº 9 y luego de pasar por el camino que bordea el Río Trapiche y la exuberante vegetación de sauces y membrillos, a pocos kilómetros, llegamos al Dique y Embalse Antonio Esteban Agüero.Construido en el año 1997 sobre el cauce del Rio Grande, tiene una superficie de 265 Km2 y un caudal máximo de 27,5 m3/seg.Construido en 1997. El Dique Antonio Esteban Agüero: enclavado entre pintorescos paisajes de la serranía puntana, embalsa las aguas del arroyo Los Manantiales y el Río Grande, es uno de los principales proveedores de agua de la ciudad de San Luis.Su nombre es un homenaje al célebre poeta puntano y fue propuesto el mismo día de la inauguración por el entonces Presidente de la Nación, Carlos Menem.
