EL VOLCÁN - Departamento La Capital - Provincia de San Luis

Río Volcán

Nos encaminamos por ruta Provincial Nº20, luego de pasar por la rotonda de Cruz de Piedra, nos dirigimos hacia la pintoresca localidad de El Volcán, que se encuentra a tan solo 18 km del centro de la Ciudad Capital de San Luis. Lugar que se caracteriza por su sombra a la vera del arroyo.

We directed ourselves by Provincial route Nº20, after passing by the roundhouse of Stone Cross, we went towards the colorful locality of the Volcano, that is to only 18 km of Capital downtown of San Luis. Place that is characterized by its shade to the side of the stream.

El cauce del río divide a esta villa veraniega en la banda Norte y la Banda Sur, como así también podría afirmarse que marca el trazado de la calle principal de la Banda Norte, ya que es casi paralelo a su cauce.

Esta calle cuya característica principal es que está emplazada al pie de la sierra, siendo muy angosta y cuenta con una agradable arboleda, principalmente por sauces y mimbres.

The channel of the river divides to this summery villa in the North band and the South Band, like thus also could affirm that it marks the layout of the main street of the North Band, since he is almost parallel to his channel. This street whose basic characteristics is that it is located on the foot of the mountain range, being very narrow and counts on pleasant woods, mainly by willows and wickers.

La Banda Norte, la más antigua ya que cuenta con casonas que datan de mediados del Siglo XX, cuyos propietarios eran la mayoría puntanos, disponían de ellas para vacacionar o bien solo disfrutar de un fin de semana, la mayoría de ellas contaban con escalinatas que conducían al río que si bien nunca fue demasiado caudaloso, fue ideal para grupos familiares con menores.

The Band North, oldest since it counts on large houses which they date from half-full from the Century XX, whose puntanos proprietors were the majority, had them to vacacionar or single to enjoy a weekend, most of them counted on perrons that lead to the river that although never was too mighty, was ideal for familiar groups with minors.

Capilla Nuestra Señora de la Guardia

En este sector Norte se encuentra la Capilla que fuera construída por Don Alfredo Picca, en terrenos donados por Don Domingo Mollo.
Después de tres años de labor que duró la construcción del templo, fue inaugurado para el día de Nuestra Señora de la Guardia un 29 de agosto, del año 1944.

En su exterior se ha emplazado un via crucis.

In this North sector is the Chapel that outside construída by Don Alfredo Picca, in lands donated by Don Domingo Mollo. After three years of work that lasted the construction of the temple, it was inaugurated for the day of Our Lady of the Guard 29 of August, of year 1944. In its outside a route has been located crucis.

Este puente, punto de unión entre la banda Norte con la banda Sur, donde comienza el balneario, el que en época estival es visitado por cientos de familias ya que cuenta con lugares adecuados para pasar el día (asadores, baños)


This bridge, tie point between the North band with the South band, where the bath begins, the one that at summer time is visited by hundreds of families since it counts on adapted places to spend the day (spits, baths)

E l Volcán: según la tradición debe su nombre a la circunstancia que los terrenos del arroyo estaban constituidos por tierras quemadas o cenicientas, como en las faldas de los volcanes.

También se dice que su nombre se debía a la fuerza de arrastre que tenía el Río Volcán el cual era similar a la lava de un volcán en erupción.

And l Volcano: according to the tradition it must his name to the cisrunstancia that the lands of the stream were constituted by burned earth or cenicientas, like in the skirts of volcanos. Also one says that its name had to the drag force that had the Volcán River which was similar to the lava of a volcano in eruption.
