Dejamos el automóvil en una pequeña playa para continuar caminando hasta el cauce del río Los Molles, tributario del Río Potrero de los Funes. (sugiero que hagas click sobre cada imágen para ampliarla y así apreciar absolutamente todo sin desperdicio)
En el trayecto de este río hay varios balnearios conformados por pozos y saltos de agua, atravesando quebradas muy pintorescas.
Las características de estas corrientes es que dependen de las lluvias que suelen ser abundantes en verano y escazas en invierno.
Cuando las lluvias son abundantes, los ríos y arroyos crecen notablemente, pueden llegar a desbordarse, volviendo a su nivel normal en pocos días después, vuelve a ser el manso río que hasta puede infiltrarse en el espeso arenal de su cauce.
Se recomienda no acampar muy cerca del río cuando se anuncian lluvias para evitar inconvenientes mayores.
Podemos decir que estamos abrazando el paraíso, encontramos allí una gran paz, llenamos nuestra retina con el regalo que nos dió la madre naturaleza. Nos dimos cuenta que no estábamos solos, un grupo de cóndores nos dieron la bienvenida, haciéndonos compañía durante un buen rato.
Siguiendo hacia arriba el cauce del río se puede llegar a la cumbre del Cerro Valle de Piedra, escenario desde el cual se puede apreciar la Ciudad de San Luis, las salinas del Bebedero y hasta la Cordillera de los Andes en los días muy diáfanos.

Fue construida en 1957 y remodelada en 1978 cuando se levantó la casa parroquial
Esta capilla se levantó sobre terreno que donara el Dr. Galo Funes y Cipriano Taboada Mora.
En la parte superior de la capilla encontramos un pesebre electrónico construido en piezas de yeso por el Sr. por Virgilio Fioretto quién donara a esta capilla toda su obra.

Desde el pintoresco Pueblo de Potrero de los Funes, nos dirigimos hacia la Nueva Ciudad de la Punta, haciendo un recorrido muy atractivo, ya que el paisaje nos cautiva.

El río Potrero nace en la sierra de San Luis como otros de los ríos de la provincia, ya que las aguas de las lluvias se infiltran y se instalan en los acuíferos, a donde reaparecen formando vertientes de los que nacen los ríos que dan vida al Potrero.
Las características de estas corrientes es que son casi exclusivamente pluvial, el caudal y hasta la mayor o menor duración de sus aguas, están sujeto al régimen de las lluvias locales. Cuando estas son abundantes los ríos y arroyos crecen con rapidez, corren torrencialmente y se desbordan, pero unos días después vuelven a su nivel normal, continuando el manso curso de sus aguas e infiltrándose en el espeso arenal de su cauce.

Los tributarios del Río Potrero son el arroyo Los molles que desciende por la quebrada homónima y recibe las aguas de una parte del arroyo las águilas por un desvío a la altura del salto grande a unos 1.700 mts. s.n.m y el arroyo de la bolsa.
En el pueblo del Potrerode los Funes, encontramos al margen del río, asadores para disfrutar de un día de campo.
