Su historia comienza con la llegada de los jesuitas provenientes del valle de Limache (Chile), en 1732. Surge entonces la tradición del "Señor del Espino", réplica de la antigua imagen que fuera descubierta accidentalmente en Chile por un aborigen en el tronco de un árbol (espino). En su honor, esta orden construye la capilla de Nuestro Señor de Renca, considerada una de las más antiguas de San Luis.
Años más tarde, la localidad de Renca toma su nombre en referencia al lugar de origen del santo (Paraje de Renca, Chile).
El encantador pueblo de Renca se halla en el Valle del Conlara, a 137 km de San Luis.
Erigido al costado del río Conlara, posee un atractivo balneario, con sector de camping y asadores, grandes arboledas y una hostería.
Its history begins with the arrival of the originating Jesuits of the valley of Limache (Chile), in 1732. It arises then the tradition from the “Gentleman of the Hawthorn”, retort of the old image that outside discovered accidentally in Chile by a native in the trunk of a tree (hawthorn). In its honor, this order constructs the chapel of Our Mr. of Renca, considered one of oldest of San Luis. Years later, the locality of Renca takes its name in reference to the place from origin of santo (Place of Renca, Chile). The charming town of Renca is in the Valley of the Conlara, to 137 km of San Luis. Erected to the flank of the Conlara river, it has an attractive bath, with sector of camping and spits, great woods and one hostería.
Es una localidad que posee una de las Iglesias más antiguas de la Provincia de San Luis, se estima que fue construída a comienzos del siglo XVIII con la llegada de los Jesuitas. Fue cabecera del Dpto. Chacabuco hasta 1934, que es designado en su reemplazo el pueblo de Concarán.
It is a locality that has one of the oldest Churches of the Province of San Luis, esteem that was construída at the beginning of century XVIII with the arrival of the Jesuits. It was head of the Dpto. Chacabuco until 1934, that is designated in its replacement the town of Concarán.

El día 3 de mayo se celebra cada año la Fiesta del Señor de Renca. Tradicionalmente se congregan miles de promesantes y turistas que visitan la antigua capilla y veneran la pequeña imagen del Cristo del espino. Las calles se pueblan de comercios con puestos ambulantes de comidas y artesanías.
Se levantan carpas en las que se expenden comidas típicas: asados, chivitos, locros., hechos a la vista del público. Por la noche se presentan espectáculos folklóricos y bailables que le dan un tinte de alegria pagana a la festividad.
Day 3 of May the Celebration of Mr. de Renca is celebrated every year.
